Safety of machinery
Machine safety in a plant is not just another item to tick off during an audit. It is a real concern for the health of employees, the continuity of processes and the peace of mind of production managers. Invisible at first glance, design errors, missing guards or faulty controls can turn a routine task into an accident in a split second, costing health, time and money.
That is why, at Atex Consultancy, we take a holistic approach to machine safety, combining risk analysis, verification of compliance with standards and the implementation of practical solutions that really protect people and processes.

Andrzej Bobula
Safety expert in the area of ATEX and machine safety, specialising in explosion risk assessment and analysis of machines used for the production of explosives. Authorised to perform work related to access to explosives (Military Institute of Armament Technology). Has extensive experience in the certification of ATEX-compliant machinery and the assessment of the conformity of machinery with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (CE).
Risk assessment of machinery – an essential first step
Employees are often used to working on machinery that has been in operation for years, unaware of the potential risks hidden in its design or use. A machinery risk assessment allows you to objectively see what can really go wrong before an accident occurs. It is a process in which we analyse possible failure scenarios, sources of danger and the real risks posed by individual operations. This gives the company not only compliance with regulations, but above all peace of mind and the ability to plan modernisation measures where they are really needed, instead of acting ‘blindly’.
Machinery standards and company practice
In theory, everyone knows that machinery standards exist, but their juxtaposition with the reality of the shop floor often shows how difficult their practical implementation can be. Provisions for guards, emergency stop systems, ergonomics or noise levels are of great importance, but they are not always easy to apply to existing processes and machinery that has been in use for years. Implementing standards is not just a formality – it is also an opportunity to improve the orderliness of processes, reduce the risk of downtime, reduce failure costs and increase the predictability of plant operations. Practice shows that even small changes, such as installing additional guards or improving the ergonomics of the workplace, can significantly increase the level of safety and reduce the number of near misses. This is a real investment that pays off not only in peace of mind during inspections, but above all in better work organisation and protection of people’s health.
Assessing the conformity of machinery with minimum requirements – what does this mean?
Many companies have heard of the obligation to assess the conformity of machinery with minimum requirements, but it is often not entirely clear what this should look like in practice. In simple terms, it is the process of checking that the machinery you use in your plant complies with the requirements set out in the legislation, including the Regulation on minimum health and safety requirements. As part of this process , safety features, documentation, labelling and operating instructions are verified. Through this assessment, a company can be assured that the use of machinery does not violate the law and that employees are provided with safe working conditions. It is also an important element in reducing the risk of liability in the event of an inspection by the National Labour Inspectorate or a health and safety inspection.
In our work, we deal with the topic of safety in hazardous areas. We take a number of measures to protect industrial plants and companies against the occurrence of explosions in hazardous areas. Our speciality is activity based on the ATEX Directive , the resulting Polish legislation and standardisation acts on explosion safety.

Customers about us
Machine safety – a comprehensive service at Atex Consulting
At Atex Consultancy, we offer support at every stage of the process that is a machinery safety assessment – from the initial audit, through the analysis of documentation, to the preparation of retrofit and implementation recommendations. Our team combines engineering expertise with regulatory experience to provide clients with not just dry reports but, more importantly, real recommendations that improve the safe operation of machinery and give owners and maintenance personnel peace of mind. For us, machine safety is more than a service – it is a mission to realistically protect people and processes.
Conformity assessment of machinery and retrofitting process
An assessment of the machinery and an evaluation of the compliance of the machinery with the requirements of the Machinery Directive and other legislation allows shortcomings to be identified and the process of bringing the equipment up to current standards to be planned. At Atex Consultancy, we do not leave customers with a list of points to fix, but help them step by step through the modernisation process, identifying the best solutions and supporting the implementation of safety systems such as light curtains, guards, emergency stop systems or warning signals. In this way, companies not only comply with legal requirements, but gain better work organisation and greater safety.
